Gema

Gema Gayete is currently researching a PhD in Applied Linguistics at University Jaume I (UJI), as part of a grant from the Spanish Ministry for Science, Innovation and Universities (FPU). She graduated in English Studies from the same university, and she also holds an MA in English Language Teaching in Multilingual Contexts (MELACOM). She has been a member of the LAELA (Applied Linguistics to English Language Teaching) research group since 2016 due to her student participation in the “Estudia i Investiga Programme” offered by UJI. During her doctoral training, she conducted a research stay at the University of Rijeka (Croatia). Her research interests include third language acquisition, multilingual education, translanguaging, language attitudes, pragmatics and CLIL. The findings of her studies have been published in international journals and editorials, such as International Journal of Multilingualism, Journal of Language and Culture in Education and Peter Lang, among others. She has presented her research in more than 15 national and international conferences, and she has been part of the organising committee of several international and national conferences and seminars. Moreover, she has participated in several research projects dealing with multilingual education, pragmatics and affective factors in education. Additionally, she has served as a reviewer for prestigious international research journals, such as System and Applied Linguistics.
